  • Wife of Kelsey Markland.  They crossed the Atlantic on the ship John M. Wood in 1854 and borrowed money from the Perpetual Emigrating Fund.  Her husband paid tithing at West Jordan, Utah in 1855 so they must have crossed the plains in 1854 or 1855.

    The above birth and death dates are from the Find a Grave website, but there is not a photograph of her gravestone in Nebraska.  The 1854 ship manifest shows her age as being 28, which would make her birth about 1826.  The 1880 Nebraska census shows her age as 54, making her birth year about 1826.   We have not been able to locate a primary source which would confirm her birth or death dates.
