  • The journal of James C. Snow (captain of his own company in 1852) records the death of Sarah Houghton, who was part of his company. Later it mentions that they came upon "Capt. Ferin's Company" (Samuel Ferrin was a captain of ten within Allen Weeks 1852 company). In this company was a "Mrs. Smith", who wished to take one of the orphaned children. Mrs. Smith is identified as the late Sarah Houghton's sister. Abigail Conklin Smith, was Sarah's only living sister at the time and secondary sources confirm that she and her husband were in Allen Week's company. This information allows us to place that family in the Weeks Company.
