  • Emma sailed to America in 1864 on the ship Ellen Maria.  The original ship manifest lists her as a "spinster" who was traveling alone.  The index to the ship manifest shows her surname as "Woodclows."

    Her birth and death dates are confirmed by her death certificate and the inscription on her gravestone, which shows her name as "Emma W. Kelsey."
