  • Johannes and his family (Karen, Marie, and Johanne) traveled to the United States aboard the ship Monarch of the Sea. However, the ship manifest found in the collection "New York Passenger Lists, 1820-1957," on Ancestry.com states that Johannes's daughter Johanne died aboard the ship on 25 May 1864.
