• Betty was an African American slave who belonged to Elizabeth Crosby Brown and traveled with her and Elizabeth's husband (John Brown) to Utah. Elizabeth Brown was a member of the Crosby family, which included: Elizabeth Coleman Crosby, William Crosby, and William H. Lay.
