Fritz L. Johnson emigrated from Sweden in 1863. He traveled on the ship, The B. S. Kimball, and arrived in New York on June 15, 1863. His surname appears as "Johansen" on the ship manifest. He appears in the 1866 Joseph S. Rawlins Company as "Fredk Johansen" and is traveling with a Lars Johansen. In 1868, he was an out and back teamster in the D. D. McArthur Company, his name "Fritz L. Johnson." Census records also confirm his name as "Fritz L. Johnson."
