  • Although not directly listed in the memorandum book, Walter (Helen's husband) purchased enough food rations for two people.  According to New York passenger lists, Walter and Helen traveled together from Liverpool to New York aboard the Colorado, arriving 28 July 1868.  The ship manifest shows her given name as "Ellen."

    Her birth and death dates are confirmed by her death certificate and the inscription on her gravestone.
