  • Sarah is the daughter of William and Mary Ann Betts Pike. She emigrated from England with her family in 1868. The Pike family traveled from Liverpool to New York aboard the Colorado, arriving 28 July 1868. According to the D. D. McArthur memorandum book, Sarah's father (William) purchased enough food rations for seven people. Her parents and siblings came with the McArthur Company. However, it appears that she stayed in Benton, Wyoming and came a week later with the Gillespie Company. She married George William Hilton, who was a teamster with another company that left the following month.

Birth date listed was found in a personal, online family history record (such as Family Tree, Ancestry, or My Heritage), without any accompanying documentation.  Further research is needed to verify its accuracy.

The surname of "Hilton" appears on her gravestone.
