  • James and his family (parents Ann James and brother Henry) began their overland journey with the Justus Morse Company in 1850.  When that company was dissolved due to contention, they joined the Shadrach Roundy company that was passing by. 

    There is no evidence that James had a middle name, contrary to information on New FamilySearch/Family Tree.
