  • The Reese family traveled to the Salt Lake Valley with the Allen Taylor Company in 1849.  The Reese family included Enoch and his wife Hannah Harvey, and their children Enoch Moroni and James H.  Enoch’s brother John also traveled with the company.  Enoch was the captain of the 2nd fifty.

    Mention is made in the "Synopsis of the travels and doings of His Excellency Governor Young on his southern expedition in the Spring of 1854" ( Church History Library CR 1234 1 box 73 folder 6) of the expedition meeting, on 16 May 1854, somewhere south of Beaver, Utah, Chapman Duncan and Enoch Reese who were returning from California.

    In 1855, Enoch traveled with the T. D. Pitt Company.

    At the end of a mission, Enoch returned home with the John W. Berry Company in 1858 and served as Commissary of the company.
