  • He arrived in Boston on 20 April 1857 via the ship George Washington. The first documentation to place him in the Valley is the 1860 federal census where he is seen living the the family of James Meek in Spring City, Utah. Further research is needed to narrow the year of his travel and identify the name of the company with which he traveled.

A few years later, he is seen on the Trail again, this time working as a teamster for John Murdock's 1862 out-and-back company. The notation in his future wife, Grace Robinson's PEF record indicates he worked as her teamster.

His surname is "Blair" on the 1857 ship manifest.
