        • From Nauvoo, William and his wife Martha Randall left Illinois in May 1846 with William’s cousin, Andrew H. Perkins as captain.  They settled in Iowa until 1848 when they traveled to the Salt Lake Valley in the Brigham Young Company.

On 9 March 1851 William and Martha were asked to go to the Sandwich (Hawaiian) Islands on a mission.  Martha grew ill, and they were released from their service.  They traveled home through San Bernardino, and traveled with the Alexander Williams Company in 1853.

In her later years she was known as "Patty."
