  • Hugh and his wife, Sarah, crossed the Atlantic on the ship Buena Vista in 1849.  In a letter written by D. [Dan] Jones, we learn that: "Rather unexpectedly ... our dear sister Davies, wife of Brother Hugh Davies from Liverpool died, over sixty years of age."  (Letter found on the Mormon Migration website associated with the name "Hugh Davies.")  On 3 December 1849 Hugh was re-baptized at Salt Lake City; the baptism record says he was born at "Amlwch, Anglesea, N. Wales."  In the 1850 federal census he is Hugh "Davis," age 72.
