  • The Mortensen family sailed to America in 1863 on the ship B. S. Kimball.  Her name is listed as "Camella T." on the ship manifest. 

    Local church financial records noted that Karen Mortensen traveled in the William Preston company. We have chosen to rely on Morten Mortensen's memory of the company his family traveled in, but lacking rosters for both companies, it is possible they traveled in the Preston company.

    The spelling of her name and her birth date are confirmed by Denmark Church Records.
