  • He arrived in New York on 15 June 1863 via the ship B.S. Kimball, traveling with his wife, Marie Larsen Poulsen, and two children, Soren Mikkel Poulsen and Marie Kirstine Poulsen. It is uncertain whether Marie Kirstine made the overland trip.

The company he traveled with was noted in local church financial records. Last documentation of him is in the 1870 Census, so he must have died around 1871 or later. Some later sources list his given name as "Michael."
