Emma Jane Clews

  • Emma's parents (Andrew Clews and Mary Ann Thomas) and her brother (George) died at St. Louis, Missouri in 1849. The family had crossed the Atlantic on the ship Isaac Allerton in 1844.  Emma and her brother Joseph traveled across the plains together.  At the time of the 1850 Utah census Emma was in the household of James and Agnes Taylor.  Her surname is spelled "Clewes" in various sources.  In the 1850 Utah census it is spelled "Clowes."  She married Elliot Willden in Utah.
