Robert divorced Sarah Ann Revell on 21 March 1855 in Salt Lake City. A second divorce date for them is 21 December 1855. The March date proves that he arrived in Utah by 1854. Sarah Ann came to Utah as a thirteen-year-old girl with her parents in 1852 with the Thomas Marston pioneer company. We have not been able to determine the date of their marriage.
His divorce from Sarah Ann is the only documentation we have been able to locate which places him in Utah, but it is likely that he moved on to California by 1860. There is only one individual in California with that surname in the 1860, 1870, 1880, and 1900 census. All have the given name of "Robert," and all were born in England between 1818 and 1821. Also, there is only one individual on the Find a Grave website that is likely him--Robert Lockstand, died 23 February 1901, buried in Placerville, El Dorado, California.
Robert sailed to America in 1838 on the ship Gladiator. He was 17 years old, and no family members accompanied him to America, nor do any family members appear with him in any of the census records.
He may be Robert Lockstand listed in FamilySearch, ID M9L3-SPC, but further research is needed to confirm his identity, the year he arrived in Utah, and the name of the pioneer company with which he traveled.
