He came to Utah between 1848 and 1850. He likely traveled to Utah with some returning Mormon Battalion veterans possibly as early as 1848, although he isn't listed on the 1848 property list in Salt Lake City. His name appears on the 1850 Utah census. Further research is needed to narrow the year of his travel.
He later participated as one of the rescuers that were sent out in the winter of 1856 to assist the members of the Church stranded in Wyoming.
He also served as an out-and-back teamster for the William Streeper Freight Train in 1867 as documented in the Kennard source.
