  • The ship passenger list records his age as 12 in 1866 which would make his birth year 1854. His death certificate records his birth date as 31 July 1857. This comports with the 1861 British census which gives his age as five in that year. If that is correct and there is a difference of two years between he and his younger sister Louisa, then he was likely born in 1856. His age on the ship passenger list is significantly mistaken.
