  • John traveled with his wife, Mary, and at least two young girls, his daughter and niece. Birth date confirmed by Millcreek Ward records at the time of a rebaptism on 30 March 1862. Secondary sources indicate that they traveled with the Ira Eldredge company. Further research is needed to confirm that information.

There is a Brother Davis, noted in the Eldredge Company by Charles Turner in his journal. It is possible that this is John R. Davies. However, Turner indicates that Davis was traveling with his wife and 3 children, and we are only aware of two children traveling with John R. and Mary Davies.
