  • She sailed to the United States in 1854 on the Jessie Munn. She is listed on the ship roster as "Johanna Hammer." Her child died at sea in 1854. She and her husband came to Utah between 1854-55. Biographical sources state the Hammer family came in 1854. Further research is needed to narrow the year of their travel and confirm the name of the company they traveled with.

    LDS Scandinavian Mission records state she emigrated 28 November 1853 to America.
