  • The Barkdull family came to Utah sometime between 1851 and 1853. They have a child born in Illinois March 1851, but they are not in the Bishop's Report of 1852 in Utah. The first documentation to place them in Utah is a child's birth Sep. 1853 which was after the arrival of that season's emigration. Further research is needed to narrow the year of their travel. The surname is variously spelled in the documents: in the 1850 Iowa census it is "Barkdoll;" in the 1860 Utah census it is "Barkdole."
