  • The Pehrssons emigrated from Sweden in 1863, crossing the Atlantic on the ship John J. Boyd.  On the ship manifest their surname is spelled "Persson."  Though they came to America in 1863, the first documentation to place them in Utah is the birth of a child in June 1865 which was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration. Pehr appears in the records of the Utah Territorial Militia at Ephraim in 1867.  In the 1870 Utah census he is "Peter Pearson."  Further research is needed to determine the year the family came to Utah and the name of the company with which they traveled.
