  • Evidence from emigration and genealogical records proves the Wilson family traveled to Utah in 1854. They sailed to America in 1854 on the ship John M. Wood, but the first documentation to place them in Utah is the marriage of William in July 1855, which was prior to the arrival of that season's emigration. Further research is needed to determine the name of the company with which they traveled.

    The 1860 Utah census shows Jane and her son George living together in the 10th Ward in Salt Lake City.
