  • Arnold traveled on the ship Constitution, arriving in New York on 6 August 1868. First documentation to place him in Utah is his baptism by Henry Riser (Reiser) in the 6th Ward on 20 September 1868. Arnold did not come with any immediate family members. As indicated in the British Mission Record (found in Mormon Migration database), he was traveling with Joseph S. Horne who is documented in the 1868 John Gillespie pioneer company. Surname is mispelled as "Gianque" on the New York Passenger lists.  He was taken in by the Henry Reiser family after arriving in the valley until his own family emigrated several years later. Arnold appears with the surname as "Riser" in the 1870 census.
