  • It is uncertain why the Holland family does not appear on any company records. However, Emily Holland, who was 13 years old at the time of travel, clearly states in her autobiography that she and her family (except and older brother and sister) traveled under the direction of James D. Ross for both the overseas and overland portions of the journey to the Valley.
