  • Sarah Brereton Bell, a widow, crossed the Atlantic with her daughters Elizabeth and Sarah on the ship Argo in 1850.  According to the mother’s obituary they then crossed the plains “in Capt. Tidwell’s company reaching Salt Lake in the fall of 1853.”  Actually, the Tidwell Company crossed the plains in 1852.  The mother's death date is confirmed by the Utah State History Cemeteries and Burials Database.
