  • Sophie came to Utah between 1862 and 1865. She likely came in 1862, the year she took a PEF loan for her emigration and sailed to America. She sailed on the ship Athenia. Her name is listed on the ship's records as "Sophie Love." The first documentation to place her in Utah is her marriage in October 1865. Further research is needed to narrow the year of her travel.  Her name is listed as "Sophia M. Hyde" in her obituary, and her death certificate shows her name as "Sophie Margaret Hyde."
