  • Evidence from census and genealogical records proves that the Curtis family traveled to Utah in 1850. A child was born in March 1850 in Illinois. The first documentation to place them in Utah is the 1850 Utah Census, which was taken in 1851 before the arrival of that season's emigration. Further research is needed to determine the name of the company they traveled with. The Curtises might have come in the Stephen Markham company, but there is only an undated/unauthored source for this and there is no primary documentation to confirm it.
