  • The family came on the John J. Boyd in 1855. It consisted of Jens, the father, Ane Catrine, the mother and a child they were to look after, Nicoline Marie Bertelsen. They also went by the name of Mikkelsen. 

    According to family tradition, Jens traveled with his wife and their daughters in the Christiansen company. His wife, Anna Catherine, died in Echo Canyon 10 September 1857.
