  • William and his wife, Matilda, arrived in New York on 5 July 1866 via the ship American Congress. Though the overland company records only list head of household, it shows that William purchased 2 adult food rations, indicating that Matilda was still with him during this part of the journey. PEF records are show in Matilda's name because William died shortly after their arrival in the valley.
