  • Evidence from census and genealogical records proves that Asa traveled to Utah in 1849 or 1850. Further research is needed to confirm the year he came to Utah, although it might have been 1850, and the name of the company he traveled with. His birth date was obtained from the 1900 Census where he was listed as an inmate in San Quentin Prison.

    The inscription on his gravestone in California confirms the year of his death, but shows his birth year as 1838.  The index to the website has his name listed as "Asa Omry Boyce."
