  • Evidence from emigration and land records proves that the Bunting family arrived in Utah in 1853 on the ship Ellen Maria.  Mary Ann,  her husband Jacob, and daughter Thirza sailed to America on the Ellen Maria in 1853, but we have not found evidence that Jacob survived and arrived in Utah.  Mary Ann purchased property in Salt Lake City 13 October 1853.  Further research is needed to determine the name of the pioneer company she traveled with.
