  • George arrived in New York on 30 May 1863 with his wife and three children via the ship Cynosure. His wife died after arriving in the states and his children (Ann, James, and Sophia) traveled without him in 1865. George made the trip alone in 1866. This is confirmed by Thompson company records, which indicate that he purchased one adult food ration for the overland journey. The balance on his PEF account also confirm he traveled alone.
