  • Ransom traveled with his mother, Lois Ann Coon Stevens Jordan and his Jordan half-siblings.  The 1850 Missouri census lists the family's surname as "Jourden." Evidence from newspaper and genealogical records proves they traveled to Utah 1851. Lois Ann Coon Jordan's obituary states that they came in 1851 and one of her sons was born in December 1851 at Salt Lake City.

Ransom was re-baptized at Salt Lake City on 16 November 1851.  In the Salt Lake Stake Record of Members, his surname is spelled "Stephens."

Further research is needed to identify the name of the pioneer company with which the family traveled to Utah.
