    With assistance from the Perpetual Emigrating Fund Mads and his wife Anna crossed the Atlantic on the ship Humbolt in 1862.  They were sealed in the Endowment House on 13 October 1865.  His name then appears in the records of the Utah Territorial Militia in 1867 in Sanpete County.  Both he and Anna received Patriarchal Blessings on 6 April 1870.   Their surname is listed as "Christian" on the Deseret News roster of the Murdock Company.
