  • Alice, her father William, and her sister Hannah emigrated from England in 1849. They sailed on the ship Hartley and arrived in New Orleans on April 28, 1849. William did not continue on to Utah, so Alice and Hannah were left to travel to the Valley by themselves. Alice was rebaptized in Salt Lake City on 28 October 1850.  Her name is shown as "Alice Hume" in the Salt Lake Stake Record of Members, where her rebaptism is recorded.  This record also confirms her birth date.

Both she and her sister appear in the 1850 census, Alice with the surname of "Holmes" and Hannah with the surname of "Rollins." Her sister Hannah married James H. Rollins after arriving in Utah.

Alice married Robert Thompson in 1852, and married Darius Lougee in 1866. In her obituary her name is shown as "Mrs. Alice Lougee."
