  • Helen arrived in New York on 16 June 1860 via the ship William Tapscott. According to the Brigham Young Hampton Autobiography, she was born in Australia and married him in Salt Lake City in November 1863. This is the first documentation to place her in Utah. So she must have crossed the plains in between 1860 and 1863. Further research is needed to narrow her year of travel and identify the name of the company.

Her birth date is given as 6 January 1842 in the Hampton Autobiography.
