  • Joseph and his family came from England in 1848 on the ship Sailor Prince.

Although his and his wife's names are not seen explicitly on the Tidwell Company records, his son's name (William Westwood) is there with a notation that his traveling group consisted of 15 people. Joseph and his wife were in St. Louis at the time of the 1850 census and are in the Valley in 1852, as indicated by the 1852 Bishop's census. So, it is assumed that Joseph and Jane were among the 15 that traveled with his son, William.
