  • Richard and Sarah sailed to America in 1854 on the ship Golconda.  Evidence from the Perpetual Emigrating Fund records proves that they arrived in Salt Lake City in 1854.  Surname listed as "Alva" in some sources. Richard's middle name appears in the England marriage records.  Further research is needed to determine the name of the pioneer company they traveled to Utah with.
