  • Mary and her husband Robert Healey Brown crossed the Atlantic on the ship Sidney in 1842.  They lived for a while in Nauvoo, Illinois until forced to leave.  She gave birth to a son, Robert Thomas Brown, on 1 September 1847 at Alton, Illinois and bore a daughter, Mary Jane in Salt Lake City on 13 December 1849. This suggests that the family crossed the plains either in 1848 or 1849. Additional research is needed to determine the exact year and the pioneer company with which they traveled.  Mary's death date is from the Salt Lake City Death Records book A (1848-1866), line 478 where she is listed as Mary M. Brown wife of Robert.
