Samuel Varney

  •  Evidence from census and newspaper records proves that Samuel traveled to Utah sometime between 1851 and 1855. He does not appear on the 1850 Utah census. The first documentation to place them in Utah is the 1856 Utah census, which was taken in February 1856, prior to the arrival of that season's emigration. Samuel's obituary states that they came to Utah in 1856, but based on the 1856 census, they must have arrived earlier. Further research is needed to determine the year they came to Utah and the name of the company with which they traveled
