Charles Mathews
Evidence from emigration, church, and genealogical records proves that Charles and Elizabeth Mathews traveled to Utah in 1851 or 1852. They sailed to America in 1850. Two children who appear with them on the 1850 Argo ship manifest died in 1850 before Charles and Elizabeth came to Utah, as did a third child who was born in and died in Missouri in 1850. The first proof of their arrival in Utah is the birth of another child in September 1852. Further research is needed to determine the year they came to Utah and the name of the company they traveled with.
