  • Traveled with his wife, Mary Griffiths and his two nieces Sarah and Frances Ingraham, whose parents, William and Susanna Griffiths Ingraham had died in Nauvoo.

They are listed on both the Snow and Roundy rosters. As the 1850 companies traveled so closely together, it was not uncommon for people to move from one company to another.

The Gardner Snow record is a source for the William Snow company. In it, there is a "Charles" Griffith listed who was traveling with 1 waggon, 6 cattle, 5 persons, and 2 guns. There is no "Richard" Griffith in this record. The Luke Gallup diary, also a source for the William Snow company, recorded a "Richard" Griffith with the company who had 5 people, 1 wagon, and 6 cattle. There is no "Charles" Griffith listed in this record. The Shadrach Roundy roster lists "Richard" Griffiths as traveling with 5 people, 1 waggon, 1 horse, 6 cattle, 1 mule, and 2 firearms. It is extremely likely that these three people are all Richard Griffiths, born 1811. It is uncertain why his name was recorded as "Charles" in the Gardner record.
