  • Louis and Mary Aspin Taussig arrived in Utah before the 1856 territorial census (taken early in the year). Presumably, Mary was Louis' wife. Some documents spell Louis' given name as "Lewis." The surname is variously spelled "Toussig" and Tausig." According to the Deseret News, Louis operated a tannery in the Salt Lake City 15th Ward. The birth date given above is the date Louis himself gave at the time he received a Church ordinance. Additional research is needed to identify the year of travel and the name of the pioneer company with which he crossed the plains.
