  • The Geeson family arrived in New Orleans on 14 March 1851 via the ship Ellen. They are seen in St. Louis at the time of the 1860 federal census, enumerated on June 5th. The first documentation to place them in the Valley is Richard and Sarah Elizabeth's rebaptism in the Seventeenth Ward on 6 November 1862, so they likely traveled in either 1861 or 1862. Further research is needed to narrow the year of travel and identify the name of the company they traveled with.

Birth date is confirmed in the Seventeenth Ward records at the time of the rebaptism.
