  • The Stocking family initially traveled to the Salt Lake Valley in the Warren Foote Company in 1850.  According to the Warren Foote Emigrating Company Journal, John Jay had six people traveling with him.  From genealogical records, those individuals appear to be his second wife, Harriet Ensign and daughter Maria Adaline, as well as the children from his first marriage Jeremiah Reubin, Angeline Ameret, Ensign Israel, and Sarah Delight.  His first wife died in 1841.  They had two wagons and 15 cattle.
