  • She is the wife of Capt. James Brown and the mother of Ann Elizabeth Roper. Her birth and death dates are confirmed by the Utah State History cemeteries and Burials Database and the inscription on her gravestone.  Her name is shown there as "Esther J. R. Brown."

    Her husband came to Utah in 1847 with the Mormon Battalion Sick Detachment.
