  • Jesse was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 20 October 1851 at Salt Lake City.  A "Jessy H. Coppock" appears in the Utah Territorial Militia records at American Fork in 1853.  On 16 April 1854, when he consecrated an unknown sum of money to the L. D. S. Church, he was in South Willow Creek (modern Draper.)  At the time of the 1856 Utah Territorial Census a Jesse Coppock was living in Malad County, Utah (now the northern part of Box Elder County.)  In his household were Jane A. Coppock and Jesse Coppock Jr.  Additional research is needed to confirm that all of these references refer to the same man and to discover the year he crossed the plains to Utah.
