  • Elizabeth arrived in New York on 1 May 1860 via the ship Underwriter. She crossed the ocean with the Aaron Rigby family and married their oldest son, John, after arriving in the Valley. The Rigby family crossed the plains with the James D. Ross company that same year. It is likely that Elizabeth continued across the plains with them, however, further research is needed to confirm this since her name does not appear anywhere on the roster for that company. First documentation to place her in the Valley is her marriage to John Rigby on 7 December 1861, as recorded in the Centerville Ward records.

Death records cited have an inaccurate birth date. The birth date given is confirmed by Centerville Ward records at the time of a rebaptism on 2 November 1862 and supported by age listed on ship records.
